Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

NEUROMODULATORS

(BOTOX, XEOMIN, DYSPORT)

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To help reduce the chances of side effects and complications following Neuromodulator injections, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Important Note: Neuromodulators are not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have open sores in the treatment area.
  • Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment. Alcohol can thin the blood, increasing the likelihood of bruising.
  • Medications to Avoid: If possible, discontinue the use of anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications and supplements two weeks prior to your appointment. These include aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDs, as they may increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Retin-A: Stop using Retin-A products two days before and after your treatment.
  • Timing Your Appointment: Schedule your Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler treatments at least two weeks before any special event, such as a wedding or vacation, to allow time for the results to take effect and any potential bruising or swelling to subside.
  • Reschedule if Necessary: If you develop a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area, please reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Cold Sores: If you have a history of cold sores, inform your provider. You may need antiviral medication before the procedure.
  • Pre-Procedure Meal: Ensure you have a good meal before your treatment to reduce the risk of feeling lightheaded during the procedure.

NEUROMODULATORS (Xeomin, Dysport, Botox)

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Avoid Manipulating the Area: Do not touch or manipulate the treated area for at least 24 hours after your injection.
  • Delay Other Treatments: Do not undergo any facial treatments, such as laser treatments or microdermabrasion, for at least 10 days following your Neuromodulator injections. Consult your provider if you’re unsure about the timing of other services.
  • Stay Upright: Remain upright for at least 4 hours after your Neuromodulator treatment to prevent the solution from migrating and causing issues like drooping eyelids.
  • Results Timeline: It typically takes about 7 to 10 days to see the full effects of Neuromodulators. If you do not see the desired outcome after 2 weeks, additional Neuromodulator may be necessary. Note that charges apply based on the amount of product used during touch-ups or subsequent visits.
  • Limit Physical Activity: Avoid activities that involve straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for at least 6 hours post-treatment to ensure the Neuromodulator stays localized in the treated area.
