To help reduce the chances of side effects and complications following Neuromodulator injections, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Important Note: Neuromodulators are not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have open sores in the treatment area.
- Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your treatment. Alcohol can thin the blood, increasing the likelihood of bruising.
- Medications to Avoid: If possible, discontinue the use of anti-inflammatory or blood-thinning medications and supplements two weeks prior to your appointment. These include aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDs, as they may increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Retin-A: Stop using Retin-A products two days before and after your treatment.
- Timing Your Appointment: Schedule your Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler treatments at least two weeks before any special event, such as a wedding or vacation, to allow time for the results to take effect and any potential bruising or swelling to subside.
- Reschedule if Necessary: If you develop a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area, please reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
- Cold Sores: If you have a history of cold sores, inform your provider. You may need antiviral medication before the procedure.
- Pre-Procedure Meal: Ensure you have a good meal before your treatment to reduce the risk of feeling lightheaded during the procedure.
